Rev. Melissa and Rev. Andy Nelms serve as the Co-Pastors of First Rowlett and are both ordained Elders in the United Methodist Church. They have been married since 2009 and have three amazing children: Elaina, Annaleigh, and Elijah.

Andy received a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology. Melissa received a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oklahoma City University. They and their family moved to the Dallas area in 2019 so Melissa could attend Perkins School of Theology for her Master of Divinity. Since Melissa’s ordination in 2022, they have had the joy of serving together as Co-Pastors.

They are passionate about creating church culture that welcomes people who do not have a church home, empowers people to look more like Jesus today than they did yesterday, and nurtures ministry that is community inspired, member owned, and staff equipped. They are always up for a cup of coffee and a meaningful conversation.
