Our Mission

For everyone in our community to have the chance to experience and respond to the Gospel in action through our church.

Our Vision

To share the love of Christ in the way we live and love others.

Our Beliefs

The mission statement of the United Methodist Church is “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” We believe that God is love, and this love is something that transforms our lives and calls us to share this love with the world around us. We see this in the greatest commandments, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. And the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself.” Because of this we believe our faith and our love for God must be lived out in concrete ways.

Our historical foundations are rooted in Wesleyan heritage and we share core beliefs of Christianity as well as the United Methodist belief that God’s love for the world is an active and engaged love. For deeper understanding of what United Methodists believe click on this link.

  • United Methodists share with other Christians the conviction that Scripture is the primary source and criterion for Christian doctrine. Through Scripture the living Christ meets us in the experience of redeeming grace. We are convinced that Jesus Christ is the living Word of God in our midst whom we trust in life and death. The biblical authors, illumined by the Holy Spirit, bear witness that in Christ the world is reconciled to God. The Bible bears authentic testimony to God’s self-disclosure in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as well as in God’s work of creation, in the pilgrimage of Israel, and in the Holy Spirit’s ongoing activity in human history.

  • We join with millions of Christians through the ages in an understanding of God as a Trinity - three persons in one: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons. “God in three persons, blessed Trinity” is one way of speaking about the several ways we experience God. God is “everlasting” and “infinite” in “power, wisdom, justice, goodness, and love.”

  • We believe in Jesus as Savior, as the one through whom God has freed us of our sin and has given us the gift of whole life, eternal life, and salvation. We speak of this gift as the atonement, our "at-oneness" or reconciliation with God. We believe that in ways we cannot fully explain, God has done this through the mystery of Jesus' self-giving sacrifice on the cross and his victory over sin and death in the Resurrection.

  • We know seeking to follow Jesus is not easy, but we trust that the Holy Spirit is at work guiding all of us. The Holy Spirit is God's present activity in our midst. When we sense God's leading, God's challenge, or God's support or comfort, we say that it's the Holy Spirit at work.

  • We believe that the church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ's life and ministry in the world today. First Rowlett is a place where you can experience a community and grow in your faith as together we dig into scripture, ask questions, wrestle with difficult issues, and have engaging conversations. We seek to share the love of Christ in the way we live and love others. We want everyone in our community to have the chance to experience and respond to the Gospel in action through our church.
